About Sage

The description of Sage comes in a variety of perennials.  Sage grows about 2 feet tall.  The colour of sage can vary from gray green to whitish green with rough, oval leaves and spike flowers that can be purple, white, red or pink Sage help bees, butterflies and hummingbirds  (Britannica, 2020).

As food sage is a spice for savoury dishes (WebMD, 2018)

The name sage is connected to its use through its medicinal use for stomach pain and various other problems. (WebMD, 2018) JT

Indigenous Knowledge

This plant is included in the garden because it was a well-used Indigenous plant, which was a food source to First Nation People and Coast Salish who also use sage for smudging as well as viewing plants as having spirit (Turner, 2014). JT
